I have oven heating now - need quick answer please!!! To Bettina & Petlady.

Bettina - I was looking up the recipe you bumped - & you may see this same question there but I'm in a hurry, so I'm posting a new thread for the answer.

On the muffin recipe you bumped Bettina - how many is it making? I'm not seeing that on the recipe (or am I blind!) could be this Monday! Do you use ANY flavor oatmeal for this recipe?.

Can you give me a hint of about how much cinn, cloves, (spice) you use? I'm not that good a cook so I need to know instead of guessing!!.

I have a muffing pan that is NOT mini muffins - not huge - - they make heart shape -just regular size. 6 muffins. Will this work? (How many muffins can I eat for a meal?).

PETLADY - you replied to a thread one day -on muffin recipes - that I also wanted to try - - using 1 oatmeal, 1 shake, & extract. Is that all? No other liquid? Also, how many does that recipe make? How many of these muffins can I eat for a meal?.

Can I use the same pan as mentioned above ? 6 reg. heart shape. muffins.

Thanks to both of you!!!..

Jewelspet...if you only make ONE muffin from ONE packet of oatmeal, then use one muffin pan, regular size. We have been using the mini-loaf pans but I am sure the other will work. As for spices, I don't like to use a ton because it turns bitter. Try 1/2 tsp. or so per packet. Hope this helps...

Oh Bettina I feel so dumb - - you said use one muffin pan My pan has 6 muffins holes in it. So only fill up ONE of the 6???I have not seen the mini loaf pans I don't guess. How long are they?.

Do you know they answer to Petlady's question I ask her?.

Thanks so much for the quick reply....

Jewelspet...there are no dumb questions. If you use one packet and make the DDancer recipe then it goes in one muffin cup. Petlady uses six packets, right? So, that recipe is the same but just all the ingredients multiplies times six and then it goes into six muffins cups. Is that what you wanted to know?..

On Petlady's - she did not mention water, (liquid other than extract)...

If she is using six packets...and there is 1/3 cup per packet in the original recipe then I am assuming that is 2 cups of water or liquid. I tend to use some SF syrup mixed in the water for flavor too...

Actually, my recipe would probably work better to split the batter into two or even three cups. Thinner muffins work better with this recipe. Though I've only really used the mini pans myself. I'd not go much more than 1/3-1/2 full in any one cup..

No matter how many muffins you make, you get to eat them all. One packet = One meal even if it makes 3 muffins..

Which oatmeal do you usually use? I need to be placing my 2nd order soon. My first was the variety pak. Not crazy about the peach. The only other muffins I have made are the Pumpkin - I normally would like them but I know I did something wrong. Going to have to talk to Orangeblood about them!.

I need to "cut down" this order someway - maybe keep it right at $200/ for the shipping...

Do you order over the phone or internet? I read where some order over the phone to save on the shakes..

Thanks for your help Bettina. I saw some of your recipe ideas on another thread. Looked good!..

Yeah listen to Martha on this one, she's the boss. BTW I don't use muffin cups or mini loaf pans either. I have small sized pastry dishes that work perfectly they are round and flat and it comes out perfectly every time...

Thanks Martha - I'm off to make them right now...(may try to get more than one out of the pack - will make me feel like I'm getting more !! Ha Ha!!!!) Will let both of you know what I think soon........

I've used every flavor. I'll vary the extra flavors to help mask the chemical taste of the oatmeal. I found that pumpkin & Peach go REALLY well together..

I use the Internet, it's easier for me..

Hi, I think that for the recipes and just in general that the Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal is the favorite. It doesn't have the flavors of the fruit to compete in the recipes. Plus it just plain tastes better. The Apple Cinnamon would be my second choice. Personally I can't STOMACH either the peach or blueberry UNLESS I make muffins or pancakes or cookies, etc. But I do like the oatmeal for muffins.

I think as far as the discount you get over the phone for shakes, I think that's if you order the Ready To Drink ones and get 10% off. By the way, for really cheap you can go to ebay and buy discount codes. If you are an ebay user, go there and search under Medifast and you will see people selling the codes for like nothing. It really helps...

I meant I DO like the BLUEBERRY flavor for muffins, sorry.....

Whereas I can barely tolerate the MBS in a muffin. My favorites are the peach & blueberry, but only AS muffins. Cannot stand the oatmeal as oatmeal..

In fact, truth be told, I haven't even had a muffin since the time I came up with the recipe!!.

Well Martha, sorry to hear you aren't enjoying the "fruits" of your own labor Had the blueberry for BF. Yum...

I used to use the mini loaf pans but have started using the regular muffin size pans lately. I split my muffins into three muffin wells per single packet of medifast used. So if I make the muffins using one oatmeal and one shake, then I use 6 of the muffin wells. I LOVE the recipe using the one oatmeal and the chai latte drink. But I use a vanilla shake in place of the chai because I don't have any of that one. These turn out so good! But I make them a day in advance and the dried apples seem to soak up the extra moistness of the muffin over time.

Plus they really taste good.

I also add a tablespoon of the flax seed meal per shake, oatmeal used. Delicious! These have taken the place of my Medifast bars...

I've had my MUFFINS!!!! !!! I got three out of the one package. They were fairly flat, but I don't care! They were great! I'd rather have 3 flat ones & think I'm getting more !! Sure was MORE FILLING than eating just the oatmeal by itself!!!!!! Thanks so much for ALL of your help & other tips.

I like the pumpkin flavor too! Going to try that spice. That's what I'll do with the Peach that I don't care for. Thanks!!..

Can you post this recipe. I would love to try it..

Here it is Lisa...Enjoy..

Preheat oven to 350 degs..

In a bowl:.

1 pkg Oatmeal mix.

1/4 tea baking SODA (Box).

1/8 tea baking POWDER (Can).

Splenda to taste (maybe 1/2 tbsp of the loose splenda - pkts would be different).

Spices to taste (Dry only) (I use cinnamon and powdered ginger, sometimes cloves or nutmeg).

In a 1 cup measure:.

1/3 cup water.

1 teasp. white vinegar (only use white vinegar, not cider or any other kind).

1 teasp vanilla (or to taste, or other liquid flavor) (I've used extract but lately use SF syrup).

You MUST have everything ready to go before you mix the wet and dry as the chemical reaction takes place quickly and we want to trap as many bubbles as possible..

Mix the dry ingredients well, and then mix the wet ones. Pour the wet into the dry and mix up to a smooth batter as quickly as possible. Pour into pan. Bake for 15-16 minutes. I test with a toothpick, when it comes out clean, it's done..
