I love the shakes, however I would like to be able to substitute an "over the counter" brand to help my cravings. Has anyone found a good substitution?..

Good question... I dunno what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

Sorry, I didn't explain myself well enough. I meant to say that I crave the shakes therefor I tend to run out of them quickly and I was wondering if anyone found a substiute that was comparable to get me through to my next order if needed. Sorry for the confustion...

Again, there is really no substitute for the shakes calorie/carb and nutrition-wise. Search the Medifast forum. There are several threads there for stretching your Medifast food until your order comes in. Try searching "running out of food"..

Pickles, it really is pretty difficult to match the high protein low carb low calorie of Medifast shakes and meals. I tried looking too, when I first started back 7 months ago, as I was worried I would run out of food before my next order..

Like others have said here, check the threads for discussions of this subject. And also order a bit ahead and a bit extra when you place your next order. I always have at least 2 extra weeks of Medifast meals on hand. Maybe others do even more, but the 2 week surplus stash works for me. I don't want to stress myself so keeping meals "ahead" helps calm me down - lol..

If shakes are giving you cravings you might want to consider cutting them out. If you give into your cravings all the time then it's going to be hard to maintain your weight loss at goal. Shakes are a funny thing to crave..

, that makes a lot more sense. I hate it when I run out of my go to meals. It just makes it easier to continue when you can have the meal you want. I don't think that's the same as satisfying a craving though. Here's an interesting story. I was at a health food store that carries WF about 4 months ago.

I was asking the store owner about the BBQ sauce. She asked me what diet I was doing. When I told her MF, she said "Oh, that is so expensive..I did that, but hen because of finances came up with my own using these products..". When she showed me the soups, bars and shakes, I was curious, but oh my. Not even close..

Try the brand wonderslim from they are very similiar, taste good. They have about 8 gm of carb. and only 1 gm of fiber..

But are the best tasting closest I have found in a pinch...

ORDER MORE Medifast SHAKES! I cycles through things too... but you definitely need to have what you want on hand... it helps being successful.... I have a few friends on Medifast with me right now and we always give a heads up before placing an order so we can add on if needed. You can always order mid month... or just order a few extra boxes in next months order.

Preparing and planning is necessary!..

Which you would still have to order and would not get there any faster than the Medifast stuff...

Medifast shakes are the best bet,,but in a pinch,,Walmart carries EAS Advantedge carb control shakes,,,they are 11 oz..


Carbs 2-6 depending on flavor..

23 different nutrients range in % of 20-45..

3 grams fiber.

0 sugars.

17 grams protein..

I keep these on hand in my fridge for a quick go-to in maintenance..

I DON'T recommend you use these to replace Medifast shakes, but for an emergency choice,,they are very close..

As others have said,,maybe order more shakes next time you place an order. The most important thing though, is to stay in ketosis, until you get the right products..

And milk has LOTS of carbs....right about 12 g carbohydrate in an 8 oz glass of milk...

I think Xsyarn is going through transition. Always good to post that fact though when bringing up non op foods if you are in the 5/1 areas of the discussion boards so people don't get confused...

I got here by satisfying my cravings all the way to over 300 pounds. There are cheaper and more readily available options but I'm not going to mess with MF's formula for success. This program works for me and I will not rock the boat, I have come too close to drowning on my own for too many years..

Just my take on things. Everyone has their own journey and I wish them all luck. Violet..

My coach recommended adding an extra (meal) shake right after exercise. I like the EAS 11 oz. shakes, 2-3 gm carbs but high in protein, 17 gm. I use 1 oz less of my l&g protein to balance my total nutrient intake without stressing my kidneys. Works for me - - ...
